Yuuto Matsumura McKee

Yuuto is 7 and attends Valley View Elementary School. He first showed interest in the violin through the VSO music makers program, and one month before he turned 4, he began studying with Vancouver based violinist, Joan Blackman. When visiting Japan, lessons with violinist Michio Isaji also opened up Yuuto’s musical horizon.

He began performing during the pandemic, first in front of neighbours and friends, at school, and in digital and in-person recitals. Most recently in March 2023, he appeared as a young soloist with the Strathcona Symphony Orchestra.

Aside from violin, Yuuto loves baseball. You will find him playing baseball at the park, hitting, sliding and diving to catch the ball!
