Claire Mindell

Claire Mindell

Claire Mindell is a 16-year-old cellist living in Courtenay, studying with Helena Jung and Dr. Hyun Min Lee. Last summer, Claire had the opportunity to attend the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Artists’ Orchestra program, an experience that clarified her desire to further pursue music. Claire has performed as a soloist with the Strathcona Symphony Orchestra (SSO), the Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra, and, most recently, the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra. Claire enthusiastically seizes any opportunity to play with others. Currently, she is the principal cellist of the SSO and recently joined the North Island Choral Society orchestra for their Spring 2024 concert.

Not only is Claire an avid orchestral musician, but she is also passionate about chamber music and has played with numerous chamber groups through summer programs as well as collaborations with esteemed local musicians. Claire’s love for chamber music has led her to organize and perform a variety of charity concerts, right from her first year of cello at age nine, and she continues to form ensembles to share music with the community.

This summer, Claire is excited to attend Le Domaine Forget de Charlevoix Music Academy. She is honoured to be invited to play at the Quadra Island Festival of Chamber Music and sincerely appreciates all the encouragement and support from the local music community.
